Florida 2022

Post by TJB »

Juts moved to FL last August. Not quite a "big year" but have been doing a number of herp adventures. I'll share some of my best finds with the forum. I'm pretty confident on most of the identifications but if I got any wrong definitely let me know. Also, I'm signed up for the Florida Python challenge with my two sons (23 and 26). My aim is to simply find one, not compete. I've road cruised the Glades from the Homestead entrance to Flamingo 3-4 times with no luck. If anyone is competing we'd love to join you for a day to learn and observe.

It seems that the previous 72 viewers of your post were left speechless!
I enjoyed seeing your finds, just as I would expect to find them - poking out of bushes, or by flashlight beam coming onto roads.
My last quickie trip to Florida in 2015 was poorer than I expected, but I guess that is how Florida is now.
Those Tropical house geckos must be fast! Did you have to smash its guts out to get it to hold still?
Since you asked - I think your ringneck snake is a baby Florida Brown Snake - the pale collar is wide and too far forward for a ringneck.
