Re: EASTERN GHATS 2022 Monsoon Report (several FHF firsts, big post)

Thanks all! Glad you found it interesting. Fantastic post, Mirza! Well documented and very well written. Your enthusiasm for all things herpetological (and invertebrates) comes through loud and clear. I look forward to more of your posts. -Paul Thanks a ton, Paul! Nothing like a note of appreciation...

Re: Southeast Arizona 7/23-7/25

Nice post, always a welcome sight to see posts with crisp images and some story telling still being posted on the forum.
What image hosting platform you used for the larger images ? I use flickr but hate the tags and stuff that comes under each photo.

Re: Herping In An Indian Mangrove Forest (pic heavy)

Thanks all, glad you liked it :D Ahaetulla nasuta is endemic to Sri Lanka what you found is probably Ahaetulla anomala. No, definitely not anomala. Here we have A.anomala, A.laudankia and also what used to be nasuta, all living sympatrically. Hence mentioned it as Ahaetulla cf. nasuta . Here's anoth...

Herping In An Indian Mangrove Forest (pic heavy)

It has been quite slow since the pandemic started, and I have hardly done any serious herping trips. 3 weeks ago, there were reports of the Red Tailed Pit Viper (Trimeresurus erythrurus) being spotted in the mangrove forests 150 km from my place. The species has been photographed only twice previous...

Re: Herping Panama - Sierra Llorona area in Colon Province

That's a monster Sibon nebulatus, had no idea any species from the genus grows this big. Will be great if u throw in a couple more pics of the beast. It's a dream to spend at least a couple of months with some research project in such neotropical paradise, the normal tourist thing won't suffice ! Ho...

Re: The Amazon Basin Trip Which Made Me A Herper

Great post and some really nice finds ! Finally that kind of post for which this forum was made. Brazil is EXTREMELY diverse in terms of herps, and since now u have an excuse for visiting the country regularly, try visiting the different zones: Mata atlantica, Amazon, Pantanal etc. To avoid the tegu...

Re: Spidering around Kolkata, E.India !

PAHerper1, Bill. Thanks a lot for the kind words. Glad that you liked the post  :D @ Bill : yes, it did take a lot of time and sweat to find these. But the incentive is that almost every bush you look in carefully , you will find something new or interesting. Unlike herping here , where even a...

Spidering around Kolkata, E.India !

When one talks about the biodiversity hotspots in India, Kolkata is usually not the first place that comes to your mind. The erstwhile capital of British India, it's an overwhelmingly crowded megacity. But here is an attempt to portray the spider diversity that manages to hang on in one of the most ...

Re: Herping in Nepal (really, actual herping!) - part 2

Yes, making a decent post requires a lot of time and patience. I think it will be much easier to write another classic herping memoir, filled with your top notch photography of seldom seen species. Definitely will be the first to book a copy !

Re: Herping in Nepal (really, actual herping!) - part 2

Glad that you finally made a trip post . I think you can use your free time to make some posts of your golden days of globe trotting. And yes , I have your snake road and golden toads book. Amazing accounts and herping adventures, made an excellent read.

Re: Eastern Ghats Herping Trip Report ! (Images Up)

@Ruxs You have no idea how much I cherished each and every post u made, and how much I miss them now. I remember some disturbed bloke haggling with u over some petty issue like bagging reptiles etc over here, following which u preferred staying aloof from the forum. Such toxic people hardly ever con...

Re: Eastern Ghats Herping Trip Report ! (Images Up)

The Eastern Ghats run along India's Eastern coast, starting from the Khallikote mountains (the one we visited above) and going down further South into Peninsular India. The biodiversity here is very poorly documented compared to the Western Ghats.

Re: Eastern Ghats Herping Trip Report ! (Images Up)

Thanks AEthelred ! Definitely it was an exciting trip, though we saw much less than we had expected. But just herping in such pristine habitat feels like a blessing even if you do not turn up much in the way of herps :)

Eastern Ghats Herping Trip Report ! (Images Up)

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48359597396_47512f208d_b.jpg Hi All ! After years of being a regular visitor to FHF, I finally decided to join. One driving force behind it being the sad fact that the forum is gradually falling into oblivion. I miss a lot of the classic FHFers, especially S.E.As...
