Carlton Carnivores' Herping 2022

Year's already begun for me, earlier than ever (we still expect snow and frosts for a few weeks to come normally), so beginning the wildlife videos already. The description on YouTube makes note of the ID flub on one of the animals here but for anyone who doesn't head there to watch: what I thought was a painted turtle when I prepped and loaded the video, was ID'ed by someone else as yet another non-native, the yellow-bellied slider.

More videos eventually to come this year; waiting on warm weather again, some more funds to be able to afford traveling, etc....

Shows up fine as a thumbnail vid for me...problem's probably on your end as it's doing what it's supposed to far as I can see.

Biggest trip I've taken thus far, day 1:

And thumbnail is showing up in preview for me, if it doesn't show up here the video is active on the Carlton Carnivores channel on YouTube.

Day 2 of the Kansas trip is now up; 3 lifer snakes, 1 lizard, 1 frog, and a whole lot of species that haven't ever been on the channel yet.

Kansas Day 3 (which we spent mostly in Oklahoma instead). Some of the most brightly colored box turtles I have ever seen...

Nice job filming that mink  I've only seen a few in all my years. They're hard to come by and usually gone within a few seconds. Good job being on top of things :thumb:

Just watched the other two... Liked the kingsnakes and Plains belly footage. Good finds :thumb: The dark racers look cool and I like the footage of you catching the frog with the shoulder GoPro  The one where your face is in the shot. It was Psychedelic like something from an acid trip, with the whimsical background tune, and distorted artistic quality… Great footage !! reminded me of a scene from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas Haha I seriously dug it thoroughly

Good variation and good trip 👍

💯 %

The first video from my trip to New Mexico a couple weeks ago; apparently I arrived slightly too early, as rains messed up a lot of plans (or lack thereof earlier on did too...), but we still found some stuff:

Day 4 in New Mexico, the far southwest corner. Apparently, this was to be the day of toads...

Did not get any assistance from here, unfortunately, but found someone else who helped share some info to make a recent, very short AZ trip a success. Day 1, arrival:

This might be the last vid from this year, wildlife-wise...unless some miracle permits a tropical trip
