Size is irrelevant (does not need to be carried in the field). I already have the Savage tome "Amphibians and Reptiles of Costa Rica". I'm looking for something with a few more plates/images of various herps.
Thanks in advance,
Gabriel

Re: Opinion: Best guide to herps of Costa Rica
Sorry for the delay. For something more simpler than Savage's book, I would recommend "Amphibians and Reptiles of La Selva, Costa Rica, and the Caribbean Slope" by Craig Guyer and Maureen Donnelly. Very easy to read, good pocket guide and has great pictures.
A more expensive, heavier but very informative choice would be "Serpientes de Costa Rica" by Alejandro Solorzano. It's probably an intermediate between Savage's and Guyer and Donnelly's book.
I wouldn't recommend "Amphibians and Reptiles of Costa Rica: A Pocket Guide". It's small, but the identification and pictures are small. Guyer and Donnelly's book is about the same price and has more info.
