I've done a few trips around different parts of QLD over the past year so I thought I'd put some photos up. I'll just put up a few photos from each area, sorry if there are any that have been posted here before!
Way too many photos to post them all up here but if youre keen to see more feel free to check out my flickr (http://www.flickr.com/photos/jasminevink) or instagram @wildlifetraveler
I'll start off with some species local to me in South East Queensland.
Red eyed tree frog (Litoria chloris) by Jasmine Vink, on Flickr
These guys are one of the most photogenic frog species in my area. Although their call sounds like a cat being drowned...
Eastern bearded dragon (Pogona barbata) by Jasmine Vink, on Flickr
Golden-crowned Snake (Cacophis squamulosus) by Jasmine Vink, on Flickr
A common site on the road in the warmer months. They put on a great show but are only mildly venomous and very reluctant to bite.
burton's legless lizard (Lialis burtonis) by Jasmine Vink, on Flickr
Australia's most widespread reptile. These guys feed on skinks which is pretty cool!
Heading further west we hit the Brigalow which brings a new set of species. I'm a massive burrowing frog fan so this is one of my favourite regions.
Notaden beneti by Jasmine Vink, on Flickr
Pale-headed Snake (Hoplocephalus bitorquatus) by Jasmine Vink, on Flickr
Eastern Brown (Pseudonaja textilis) by Jasmine Vink, on Flickr
I was lucky enough to head further inland through QLD earlier in the year. One of my favourite places was definitely Windorah.
Central Netted Dragon (Ctenophorus nuchalis) by Jasmine Vink, on Flickr
Desert spadefoot toad (Notaden nichollsi) by Jasmine Vink, on Flickr
Smooth knob-tailed gecko (Nephurus levis) by Jasmine Vink, on Flickr
From Windorah we headed out through Longreach in Central QLD
Eastern hooded scaly foot (Pygopus schraderi) by Jasmine Vink, on Flickr
Gidgee Skink (Egernia stokesii) by Jasmine Vink, on Flickr
And then up through Mt Isa which was amazing!
Juvenile freshwater crocodile (Crocodylus johnsoni) by Jasmine Vink, on Flickr
Acanthophis rugosus by Jasmine Vink, on Flickr
Olive Python (Liasis olivaceus) by Jasmine Vink, on Flickr
From Mt Isa we headed north through Cairns and the Iron Range. Far too many photos from this region to post here!
Untitled by Jasmine Vink, on Flickr
Varanus 'tristis'
A brown tree snake (Boiga irregularis) eating an unfortunate dainty tree frog (Litoria gracilenta) up in Iron Range by Jasmine Vink, on Flickr
Boyds forest dragon (Hypsilurus boydii) by Jasmine Vink, on Flickr
Canopy monitor (Varanus keithhornei) from Iron Range by Jasmine Vink, on Flickr
Green tree python (Morelia viridis) by Jasmine Vink, on Flickr
Back down the East coast towards Brisbane we managed to find 5 species of Phyllurus. This was my favourite photo of them all though!

Awesome photos of some amazing animals! How did you even get that close to a keithorni? The one I saw was up a tree faster than greased lightning! Fantastic photos and makes me really excited for my trip later this year!
Cheers,
Justin

Amazing photographs, though depressing for those of us looking at our own snaps and realising we'll never achieve that level of quality!

Wow, outstanding finds and photography! Any chance you could share your flash setup or techniques. I will return to Australia in November and would like to up my skills with flash.
Re: Queensland trips overview [pic heavy]
Thanks for the kind words everyone!
As for my set up I'm using mostly my 5Dmkiii, which I freaking love, coupled with either the canon 100mm macro or 24-70. For my fish eyes I steal my partners canon 7Dmkii and my samyang 8mm.
My flash set up isn't anything fancy, just a canon 580 speedlite with a soft box. I use wireless triggers to be able to use my flash off camera, this means I can get my soft box much closer to the subject. I'd just suggest playing around with different diffusion materials, things like bubble wrap, packing foam paper, tracing paper ect can make a big difference.
Hope that helps
