Jewel of the Flatwoods.

I had the opportunity to see the wonderful Frosted Flatwoods salamander on 2 occasions this year.

The first time I was lucky enough to see 8 individuals making their breeding migration in a passing storm front.

The second occasion was after spending an entire day chasing hognose snakes and failing, Daniel, Noah and I were grasping for straws and got lucky to come across this female.

Seeing them really cemented this year as being one to remember for years to come.

Very nice! Still looking for Ambystoma bishopi in NW Fla. No luck so far over the past 4 years. Matter of fact, there is a pond on a plot of land that the fantastic government ( ) just gave up on Eglin that is believed to be an A. bishopi breeding pond that is going to be developed into a waste treatment facility last I heard. I find out about it and it disappears...

Jaw dropping clarity in those photos Josh! Almost 3-dimensional.
What great finds too. Jelly, jelly, jealous!
