here's a bit from the old days....DON'T try this at home kids! The woman in the article died from a snakebite soon after.

Is that Grace Olive Wiley, or just someone who is a kindred spirit to her?

Re: kindness wins
Tamara, it is indeed Grace Olive Wiley. I inherited an old picture of her (she was friends with my grandma), and when I reframed it last weekend, I found this on the other side.

Hmm. Kindness gets you only so far, then you need to look out for yourself.it is indeed Grace Olive Wiley
She's possibly the only Anglo ever killed by a ruber...which she was free-handling. "Matter over mind."
I like the 6-pound atrox. That's a hoss.

Here's the picture on the other side (I think I may have shared this before)
Kelly, my grandma was a Bohemian, who I barely got to know - she died when I was a boy. I remember she had wicker furniture everywhere (which lent a neat smell to her entire house), and plenty of Buddha bellies to rub.

The thing is, if one deletes judgment, whatever intrinsic Wiley understood and tapped into, or response she bipassed, it is easier to react to and critique than to duplicate, or explain.

Thanks Tamara, she was! Somehow she also got to know Dr. Seuss, and brought this over to me on one of her visits. She gave us books every time we saw her.

She's like a dream Grandma...

Grace O. Wiley and Dr. Seuss. That's a great answer to that conversational bit, "Who would you most like to spend an evening with, living or dead?"
