Does anyone have experience keeping Whiptails (specifically A. tigris) or Common Side-blotched lizards? From what I've read their needs are pretty typical for desert herps, but I was wondering if anyone with experience has any pointers.

Re: Keeping Whiptails and Side-blotched lizards
I kept a side-blotched lizard about 25 years ago, for about a year before it died (didn't know about the dangers of hot rocks, or the availability of UVB lights, back then...). Other than missing out on UV light and overhead heat, the basic maintenance was easy...readily ate insects and so on.
I haven't kept a whiptail before, but I'd imagine you need a terrarium with a LOT of floor space compared to lizards of similar size. Those things seem to never stop moving.

I used to keep a tank of feeder side blotch, and generally having herp ed talks coming up... i'd toss in other local lizards... fence, whips, zebras, ect.
60 gal...uv light, lots of rocks, sand, debris, ect... most seemed to do fine on small-med crickets. jim
