Re: 2013 in Review
What a year, John. They are beautiful. Those goini are nice!
Re: 2013 in Review
The colors on your meansi are sure more vibrant than my hatchlings were. I had a huge variety in the babies though, only a few came out banded. How large was that clutch?

John,
Have you done a hypo-e X hypo-e mex mex breeding yet?
Thanks,
Scott

Re: 2013 in Review
Thanks Ross....I did better than last year but I failed with some pairings and lost a few eggs because I was in West Texas for 12 days in June......I guess I will bring them out earlier next year to see if I can be home for egg laying and since I am slimming the collection down I should be able to concentrate on some of the projects I am really interested in.....Ross Padilla wrote:What a year, John. Yea Scott I did it for the first time this year.
When I got back from West Texas there were 8 perfect looking eggs in the nest box.
At around 45 days of incubation all of them went bad......
I will try next year as both adults are proven. I don't know why the eggs went bad but I will pay closer attention next year as I want to see what they will produce.....

Re: 2013 in Review
Great looking kings. Are those splendida locale specific?
Re: 2013 in Review
The axanthics aren't but the normal looking ones are F2s from Green Valley, Arizona.
Pics 1, 2, 5 and 9 I think.... We hatched out 7 of them this year from an F1 pair I got that Terry Cox produced from a wild caught pair. The wild caught sire was a nigrita phenotype and the dam was a splendida phenotype found yards apart. Siblings to my F1 breeding pair showed some californiae influence but looke more splendida and the male has darkened up alot with age. My F2 hatchlings have a splendida look to them but have lots of californiae characteristics. I do believe some may darken up like the sire.....

Re: 2013 in Review
The splendida in the 3rd and 4th picture are generic Axanthics. One blue axanthic and one white axanthic. They have a normal looking sibling and an amel sibling as well. They have been part of a 3 generation project I've had for a while. They are possible het amel and possible het hypo, but the hypo gene did not play out yet with the 4 eggs I got......and no double homozygotes as well. Need more eggs for that....lol
Re: 2013 in Review
The mex mex and alterna are locale specific though......
Re: 2013 in Review
Did you breed the agalma you have on your website? Still too small? I would love to see more of those Hypo E agalma in the hobby.
And as others have said, those goini are great looking.
