West Virginia trip

Post by ahockenberry »

We went on a family trip to West Virginia and did some herping - not as much as I would have liked.
My son was kind enough to help me turn a few rocks - as I am getting older now.
A few nature and landscape shots and a couple shots from last year to round it out.

Nice shots! Love the box turtle pic. The landscape shots are really nice, too. Gotta love my beautiful home state :thumb:

Great shots! The first box turtle is really nice. Did you wade that clear stream? I wouldn't be able to resist.

Wow, gorgeous images! I love the squirrel and chipmunk. The habitat looks SO beautiful.
This is probably an ignorant question, but I have to ask, anyhow. Did you zoom the squirrel and chipmunk? If so, could you share what kind of lens?

Great pics, guy.
With family trips, you never get enough herping in!

Did you fish the creek?

My son was kind enough to help me turn a few rocks - as I am getting older now.
This is the very reason for herpers to have kids and grandkids!

Tamara
Yes, I shoot with a Canon 100-400 lens for walk-around wildlife shooting and used it for both
Actually, I shot the squirrel from a boat

Bill,
I did not fish the stream- it is actually Decker's Creek which is in a state of being rehabilitated
It suffered a lot of from acid mine drainage, flooding, algae and nearly lost all of its fish, so
it may take awhile for it to be ready to support trout again. It is a beautiful creek
