Earless Monitor- One of Five confirmed specimens

Post by Dan Krull »

At the Pomona Reptile Supershow, I had the good fortune of running in to two Japanese herpers who had a heck of a story to tell. Their english is a little shakey, but I think you'll connect with their story when you hear it. After sixteen years of dreaming, and ten years of searching they were rewarded with a once in a lifetime find. You can listen to their story in our Herp Nation Live coverage of the Pomona Supershow at the link below:

So cool. I talked with them about this for quite a while. That's one of the toughest herps to ever find in the wild...or keep alive in captivity

That was cool to talk to them. They were at Anaheim too and were talking about going to look for them. Cool guys, very enthusiastic!

And right after they find it, the lizard turns up in a Japanese zoo. How about that...By the way, Lanthanotus is not difficult to keep in captivity - they willingly take fish and fatty pork.

I always see them at the Anaheim show in the fall, but this time it was at the january Super Show in Pomona. They also publish a magazine in Japan.
