New To Evansville, IN

Post by scaledverts »

Hello everyone,

I recently moved to Evansville, IN and am starting to have a bit of time to start herping again. I recently lived in Philly (surprisingly good herping) and FL (obviously TONS of herps). I've herped (both road cruised and flipped) in MO and AR previously with success, but don't know the local area yet. Do people in this area generally have good luck with road cruising of board flipping? I've gone out a couple of nights and found A TON of Bufo (hundreds of them) crossing the road but I haven't seen all that many snakes yet.

Thanks,

Kyle

Hello Kyle,

I think you are in a good area for both actually. You are now entering 'mander' fall breeding season for many species so road cruising on a rainy night should be positive. Lots of wetlands in southern IN and western KY just to your south, and so that is always a good place to find some unique snakes including the Copperbelly Watersnake. They are really pretty. PM me anytime sir.
