Year of the Cicada in SC

I think these only emerge every thirteen years in South Carolina.They were everywhere at my parents house yesterday.

We had them a few years ago, the numbers are absolutely incredible.

I would have appreciated them more had I not just planted a big blueberry patch and a small orchard a week before they emerged.

They are AWESOME!!! Dontcha love the constant background noise? It reminds me of a 50's sci-fi movie :) the space ships are landing!!

they are also delicious roasted over an open fire with a cold beer :D

Some of the best cicada posts a year or so ago, were of the Copperhead in a shrub eating them!!
