Anyway this weevil (I’m guessing Rhodobaenus) seemed to have more than its share of parasitic hitchhikers.

Researching this more, does anyone know if these are phoretic mites (not parasitic)?

Holy moly, Bill!! Looks like a Giant Palm Weevil (Rhynchophorus cruentatus). I'm not sure on the mites though. I'm hoping they're parasitic because there's not much you can do to control the weevil once it has infested the palm tree.
