I'd say you already have a normal pic of a Smooth Green 'in the blue'!

I'm trying to figure out if this is a tan phase or not, so I would like some comparisons, or opinions.

It's not. Just in blue. (That would be my strong opinion.)corey.raimond wrote:I'm trying to figure out if this is a tan phase or not, so I would like some comparisons, or opinions.

The tan phase is not at all uncommon in the area I found the snake, my friend had found one about a month earlier (and didn't see any green colored ones). But some green is still visible on the sides, so I would like to see if anyone else has pictures.

The snake's eyes are clearly blue. Even if such a "tan" phase had blue eyes, I doubt it'd be like a milky, "in-shed" blue (for example, take blue eyed-cal kings, etc).
I'm going to have to strongly say its a in-shed snake.

It's OBVIOUSLY an inshed snake. I'm just wondering if it is inshed AND tan phase.

I'd bet on normal smooth green. From the pic, it looks green tinged and there seems to be some yellow in the lip.

Corey, this one was going through shed. (When I first flipped it, I could see its eyes were blue but it covered them with its tail.) Sorry no pics of that; I took a quick voucher and left it be.
You'll just have to trust me on this one. Sorry.

Thanks Tim,
Where was that one from? i.e. if it was from the central sands region of WI, it is tough to say whether it is a tan one or if that is what they all look like in the shed.

To snakestick,
Occasionally you can see that on tan green snakes that are not shedding.

Corey, it was definately a tan. I was in the area a few days later and found what I assume(?) was it lying next to the shed.corey.raimond wrote:Thanks Tim,

Yes, central sands.

So Tim, do you have an opinion as to whether my snake is a green colored one or tan when it isn't shedding? Or are you neutral?

If forced to choose, I'd have to say green. (I saw many variations ranging from dark brownish green to almost powder blue.)

Sorry Corey but I have to ask... you aren't colorblind by any chance are you?

Considering that I said there is some green coloration on the side which can sometimes be visible on tan specimens, I would say no I am not color blind.Jon Wedow wrote:Sorry Corey but I have to ask... you aren't colorblind by any chance are you?
Have you ever seen a tan phase green snake before? If not, I'm not sure how you can make proclamations like that. I have only seen one, but I have seen a decent number of photos of them. I was trying to get some advice from people who had more of them than myself. To people that helped such as Tim thank you.
