herping has been quite slow in Texas (and neighboring Louisiana) this spring due to extended drought conditions, but a few nice things have been found presenting photo opportunities - due to the extended nature of this photo summary, I'll be a bit light on the commentary and longer with the photos:
Salamanders
Ambystoma opacum, Vernon Parish, Louisiana
Eurycea quadridigitata, Vernon Parish, Louisiana
Turtles
Trachemys scripta, Hidalgo Co, Texas
Pseudemys gorzugi, SW Texas
Lizards
Plestiodon anthicus, Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana
Sceloporus undulatus (complex), Vernon Parish, Louisiana - making use of a fire ant mound to bask
Anolis carolinensis, Vernon Parish, Louisiana
Snakes
Thamnophis proximus, Hidalgo Co, Texas
Nerodia rhombifer, Kinney Co, Texas - copulating pair
Heterodon platyrhinos, San Jacinto Co, Texas
Lampropeltis getula, Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana - juvenile in blue
Pantherophis obsoletus, Vernon Parish, Louisiana - with meal
Drymarchon melanurus, Webb Co, Texas - 7' male
Agkistrodon contortrix, Jasper Co, Texas - in situ using natural light
Crotalus horridus, Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana - finally a live one from this area after finding 2 DORs, both of which were deliberately run over
And that's about all that I've pointed the camera at this spring, at least with pleasing results (and herpwise - got lots of shots of birds, butterflies, dragonflies, etc)

That Horridus is awesome and the indigo is a beast. I keep hoping we get some rain soon.

Love the field guide style pics. Don't see too many photos of gorzugi, also impressive how that indigo absolutely dwarfs that flower in the picture, you aren't lying that's a big one.
