Everglades, tips?

Post by SAGlines »

Hello, I am heading down to Fort Lauderdale next week an I was going to head to the everglades for a day. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions? I am from New England, so this will be very different form my usual herping. I really want to see some gators. I have seen Crocs in Cost Rica, but never gators. Any tips on how close you can safely get to these guys or any other tips about herping down there. I'M NOT LOOKING FOR ANYONES SPECIFIC SPOTS, just general tips. Thanks in advance!!!

ive never been to the everglades but its not a good idea to get to close to a big alligator. I live in central florida and have been around alligators alot. I have got really close(like 3 feet) to one that was like 2 feet long, then it just went straight into the water.

The alligators around Anhinga trail are pretty sedate...you can stand at the end of their tail and they wont bat an eyelash.
