Drive out into the desert. Spot a piece of anything in any rest stop or gas station parking lot. Flip it. Lather, rinse, repeat. Haha.

They're everywhere in the desert in the spring and summer. Just go out and flip any kind of garbage you can find and you're bound to find some.

Has anyone on here actually been bitten by one? I LOVE tarantulas and am usually not afraid of spiders, but those things just give me the chills. . .

I've been fanged by a tarantula and stung by numerous scorpions while herping, yet I'm creeped out to let my fingers anywhere near one of these guys' mouths...

I imagine they could take a decent chunk out of someone.

We have small ones here in WA.

Um, I don't think that is an american species. The largest solfugid I've seen in socal was about two inches. Then again, I only herp the coastal areas where they are less common than in the desert.

I'm in Texas and I've seen one.
It was a baby though and only about .5 inches long.
