My first wild kingsnake   :D And it was eating! I love finding herps doing something. I was giddy as a schoolgirl

we're not supposed to have anything but ornates but bugger if that looks like an ornate??

neat shot of a scelop. basking in flowers. I've found them on buildings, trees, sidewalks, rain barrels, cacti, fence post, shrubs...but this was a first for me :)

Nice photos, eating a whiptail. Looks like a Speckled X Desert intergrade to me.

werler and dixon puts us as in an intergrade zone, so probably. I was too busy laughing my head off to think straight. I haven't been that excited since my first indigo :)

Sure it is a whiptail?

My first impression was Elgaria or Gerrhonotus.

we don't have either of those.
What we've got (by genus)
Eumeces
Crotaphytus
Sceloporus
Cophasaurus (though I rarely see these)
Holbrooki
Cnemidophorus
Phrynosoma

That is an Ornate, My friend found some from in the panhandle and many of the males look exactly like that.

I agree with Saunders. I've seen a few D.O.R. boxies in that region and they all have that thick striping.

I agree with an eariler reply, looks like it may be eating and elgaria. Either way, those types of observations are priceless. Thanks for sharing and congratulations on your king!
