Hi all,
would anyone be able to identify this ca. 15-20 cm long lizard we found basking on a wall close to the Gurkha Museum in Pokhara, Nepal?
Hans
Thanks very much in advance!
Cheers,
Hans

It looks like a female Calotes to me.

Kelly is right, Hans, this is a Calotes versicolor, a very common species of Agamid in the region. I would really like to talk to you about your experiences in Nepal as I am very interested in visiting that country myself.

Re: Nepal Lizard ID, please!
Hi guys,
thank you very much!! As for my experiences in Nepal, check my Facebook wall for starters. There's a bird album, a general album, a Dulit album, and others. After our wildlife trip to Chitwan NP, I spent an extra three weeks alone in Kathmandu, waiting for a new passport. And I got adopted by a Chinese family. And saw a jackal while birding in a downtown park. Oh, and did I mention that rhino we saw moseying through our village, munching on flowers left and right?

Hans, the thought of the Rhino eating flowers in the village where one has slept, sounds like something blessed, like a sign of good fortune.
From what you say, and the way you say it, it certainly looks to be absolutely true!
