A last couple for the year

Post by gcsnelling »

It's cold, it's wet, what is left to find? Yup salamanders. My local swamp, the Saint Francis Sunken Lands in NE Arkansas is kind of my go to place due to its proximity to home. It is difficult to herp this time of year though in that area as it is still open season on deer, as a result it not wise to wander too far afield even in large amounts of hunters orange since even a drunken bow hunter can spoil your day.
Marbled salamanders were not uncommon under partially rotting logs. However a small mouth pops up now and then.
