Khao Sok?

Post by marcox »

I plan to spend some days in january at khao sok to find some herps. Since a guide is needed to do some nightherping at the Nationalpark, I like to know, if somebody has a contact to a herpingfrendly guide? Last time I paid 1500TBT for a short nightwalk with a birding guide, which was not so succesfull.

Thanks Marco

You can check out Tontan Travel - I've been in Khao Sok (in 2016) with them (on a larger round trip), but not sure if they are available for Khao Sok in january

I cant recall the name of the place, but i have stayed in the old tree houses a few times there and have been happy. My first night was surrounded by tokay geckos while eating dinner in the floods that hit there a few years back. lots of herps there, even just roaming around. i would say though its good to have a companion as some roads get pretty rough people wise. the hotels can put together a "guide" much cheaper than 1500, i think i paid 200 and some beer, but he certainly wasnt a reptile expert, just a local that knows the trails. it at least gets you in the park.

Thanks for your answers.

I found some guides who will enhance the night safari thing up to 4 h...seems better than nothing.
