Data Entry Levels (DB records over 1,000) As of 2-20-17

Post by Brian Hubbs »

Updated list showing all contributors with over 1,000 vouchered records in the database ( http://www.naherp.com ). Names will only be cited in the current level you have achieved as of 2-20-17. I included chapter affiliations in parenthesis for those I know, and will update the totals again in June or at the end of the year. If I did not include your chapter affiliation, please note it in a reply to this post and I will add it. AZ-Ariz., CA-Calif., MW-Midwest, RM-Rocky Mtn, SCent-South Central, NW-Northwest, NE-Northeast, SE-Southeast.

Note: Names with an * in front indicates a person who has qualified for a level above 1,000 for the first time, or a person who has moved up into the next level since last year.

This year was interesting. While several new people broke into the 1,000 club and several others moved up into the next category, many of us seemed to take a break from data entry, myself included. I did manage to enter around 700 new records, but that is poor compared to my past performance. I got a little sidetracked by some new books I'm writing and a surgery. Oh well, hopefully I can do better this year, and hopefully everyone else will too. I want to address this point right now, not only because we need more data in the naherp.com database, but because we lost over 4,000 records during the past year because two people pulled theirs out. This probably happened because they put the data in another database. I don't know why people can't leave their data in our database and just also give it to another also. It hurts nothing to have the data in two databases. They serve different functions. Ours is protected from public scrutiny of localities, while others are not. If you want to give some or all of your data to another database that's fine, but just give them a copy and keep your data in our database too. The more, the merrier.

In more pleasant news, I would like to give a special thanks and congratulations to Chris McMartin, Zach Lim. Dave Webber, and Dave Hughes for hitting the 1,000+ record mark during the past year. :thumb: And also a hearty thanks to all the others who moved into a new level. :thumb:

This will probably be a banner year for herp observations in CA due to the amazing rainfall. Have fun out there, and be safe. ;)

I like posting totals, when I have the time. For anyone who read this comment before I just edited it, there was no problem...it was a fixed problem from last year. The totals I posted this year are correct, but in 2015 the system was counting all voucher pics as entries...so if there were 4 voucher pics in one entry it got counted as 4 entries. Don corrected that on Jan 11th, 2016. :thumb:
