I asked Don (psyon) if he could increase the size and pixel limit for avatars, and lo! 'twas done. 150 x 150 pixels upper limit, 60kb max size (was 6kb).
Get creative, folks!

Good thinking Mike, and thanks Psyon/Scott. Kind of senseless when the avatar is so small that you can't resolve what it is, let alone appreciate it.
