Interesting, though I have to say that - in my opinion - here in Taiwan the mock viper doesn't do a very good job of mimicking the local pitvipers. Perhaps in a million or so more years of evolution, but not quite yet! That said, I've seen a few with their heads bashed in, so either they actually did fool some people into mistaking them for pitvipers - which did not end well for them - or else they just had the bad luck to cross paths with those intent on killing snakes of any description.

Even in California hundreds of gopher snakes are killed because they "look" like rattlesnakes. And you know that forked tongue is poisonous "right" ????
