First quarter of 2016. None of the glamour species, but just some stuff I felt really blessed to be able to see.

The Arkansas crew in the field. I failed to find them a black pine. But it was still so much fun (for me, anyhow).

We attacked a heinous pile of old boards and this momma rat ran out, babies attached, and scampered from branch to branch. After ascertaining that no snakes were beneath the boards, we quickly put them back together and retreated, so Mom could get back under cover.

Thanks for looking. I'll try to have a black pine for you next post!

Those garters are something, Tamara! I like that strong checkering. Very pretty!
And the Rhadinea! Still on my list! One day I will find one....
Great start to the year!

I, too, am envious of your garters. I just don't seem to see that many of them and certainly none that attractive. And I won't even get started on the Heterodon. Great stuff. Looking forward to herping with you in the second quarter!

Re: 1st quarter 2016
From my experience, the Gartersnakes I find in Florida/Georgia are more striking than their northern brethren.
Great photos, Tamara! I love seeing everyone's bevy of finds as the weather starts to warm up.

Love the hoggies. I am hoping to find an adult sometime as i have only seen young ones.
Berkeley - PM me about Pine Woods if you want to know how I have found mine.

Nice adventures Tamara.
The variability of our garter snakes never ceases to amaze me. They are so weird!
