Thanks for posting this Matt, that's a lot of number crunching. Good to see we broke that 10,000 mark!

It's great to see that there's still a solid core of people contributing to HERP.

Thank you everyone.

It's nice to see a couple ladies on the lists. I know Debbie and Stacy and will make sure to guilt them into doing better this year ;)

Way to go CA Chapter!

I can't believe that Nicholas and Robert took down the reigning champ, by a narrow margin. Great job racking up so many frogs and toads last year!

Matt G.: recording 200+ DOR's shows serious dedication man! I drive by half of the DOR's I see because I'm too tired, or in a hurry to get somewhere, or whatever excuse I can think of at the time. Great species count too!

Let's keep it up this year as well everyone 8-)

Thanks, Matt, for doing the math for all of us. I know it's a LOT of work.

It was a close race in the end indeed. Nicholas was sitting on hundreds of records for several months without showing much motivation to enter them - until Brian Hubbs started entering again. So, the contest is still serving its purpose. It does motivate some of us to enter more data.

I also want to call attention to Cody Merylees, who placed 11th for total points, right between Brian Hinds and Zach Lim. According to my (probably bad) math, Cody is 18 now and graduating from HS this year. Or maybe he graduated last year. In any event, he has come a long way since he first joined this forum and I am continuously impressed by his finds. Way to go, Cody!

Overall, it's amazing how many records the CA chapter, a relatively small group when it comes right down to it, was able to enter again this year. Aside from the sheer quantity, I am sure there were also a number of qualitatively important finds, e.g., new county records, (near) range extensions, etc. (though at least right off the bat I can't think of any important finds Nicholas and I made - we specialize mostly in fence lizards and utas  ).

To celebrate the successful year that 2015 was, it might be nice to share some of those finds in this thread. Just throw up a picture of the herp and explain where (county) it was found or even just post the link to the HERP record.

I picked up a number of personal and county records in Mono in 2015. Some of my favorites were sidewinder, Panamint Alligator, blind snake, and Chuckwalla. :D

Congrats to the Hess boys again! Nicholas is tough competition. However, and you knew there would be a however, I don't have cataracts anymore. I think this year might be different. I might get to herp all year, instead of just 7 months...But, I might just sit it out and let the rest of you battle... It would be nice to see some real heated competition like in the old days. Keep up the good work. :thumb:

I think this year I will concentrate on pond turtles...I think I'll enter 1,000 pond turtle pics.
