The North American Field Herping Association and Arkansas Herpetological Society will be hosting a joint herpetological field trip at Queen Wilhelmina State Park, just northwest of Mena, Arkansas, Friday, April 29 through Sunday, May 1, 2016. Anyone with an interest in searching for amphibians and reptiles in the wild is invited to attend. For more information, please view the full announcement.
You are very welcome. I've already noted quite a bit of interest from people, so we shall see how it goes. It should be fun.chrish wrote:Kory,
I am very excited about this meeting. Can't wait to see you all there.
I would love to make this, but I know I'll be too busy that time this year. I went on many trips to Queen Wilhelmina State Park with my grandparents as a child; it was always a favorite place of mine.
I will be there, already booked my place to stay.
Where's that? Are there camping sites?jlzachary1 wrote:I will be there, already booked my place to stay.
I rented a cabin in Mena as my family will be coming to the area as well. I am not sure about camping site availability.
There is camping information on the full announcement, but yes, there is camping available in the state park -Hadar wrote:Where's that? Are there camping sites?jlzachary1 wrote:I will be there, already booked my place to stay.

I will add- I spoke to the state park last week.... There were still campsites and rooms avail at the lodge. I cant decide if I'm still down for camping or if I need a room. i know of the limited motel choices in mena, they were in the $75-$100 a night range. Not too bad if its spliit up. Not sure on lodge rates at the park.
Ouch! Just checked and the lodge varies from $95 to $165 a night. I wil say though, they just finished a big renovation and its really nice!
Yes, the lodge rates are pretty pricey. I'm already paying for one of the RV sites as our "ground zero", but on the fence about whether I might want to pay additionally for an escape plan back at a hotel room in Mena. I think I'm getting old or something. HA!Mulebrother wrote:Ouch! Just checked and the lodge varies from $95 to $165 a night. I wil say though, they just finished a big renovation and its really nice!
The cabins aren't much more than the rooms at the lodge then. My cabin was only $99/night and it sleeps 6.
Please RSVP using this form, if you have not already done so.
