Final Quarter of '15

Post by Ecto Hunter »

2015 has been a terrific year on the field herping front. I've had some memorable finds and excursions with some great people and I cannot wait to see what 2016 has in store. Here are some of my keepers since last time.

Green Salamander Aneides aeneus

Rough Green Snake Opheodrys aestivus

Slender Glass Lizard Ophisaurus attenuatus

Eastern Coral Snake Micrurus fulvius

Marbled Salamander Ambystoma opacum

Four-toed Salamander Hemidactylium scutatum

Gulf Coast Mud Salamander Pseudotriton m. flavissimus

Eastern Spadefoot Scaphiopus holbrookii

Not a southeastern species, but a long weekend in Portland, Oregon turned up many Dunn's Salamanders Plethodon dunni.

Thanks for looking, y'all. I have big plans for 2016 and I can't wait to catalog my finds here. - Robb Herrington

As always, you got really nice shots of some really nice herps. My favorites are the green (mostly out of envy that I've never captured a particularly attractive pose when shooting one) and the marbled: those fall leaves create great contrast with the really crisp black and white of the salamander. Here's to more fun and productive herping ahead! And to beer when it's not productive.

Good stuff and photos, Robb. Super envious of the flavissimus. One I've had absolutely no luck with.

Excellent work, Rob! Your photography has really improved over the years.

My favorite was the Aneides aeneus...awesome photo!

Robb, great finds and great photos! As others have said, I really enjoyed that Aneides picture. The coral is superb as well.

I hope to get out in the field with you one day!
