My milk snake brings all the boys to the yard

Here's some of the eastern milks that I photographed this year in WI. One of my favorite native snakes to find because of the variability.

Great pictures as usual! All I have been doing pre-christmas is reading about lens' and cruising herp pictures. Pretty committed on a 100mm cannon IS- L series and a smaller SL1 body as I never take the 40D out (heavy in mountains). Gonna be a long winter being the bug has bit me again and I surpassed life long numbers/size herps.

Excellent selection of Milks. They're probably my favorite snake in my area just because of all the polymorphism. Always a thrill and adventure to search for them as well.

Russ, if you shoot with Canon I'd say the 100mm macro w/IS is definitely the route to go. It's pretty much the only lens I use in the field. Occasionally I wish I had something a bit wider with me.

The IS/L keeps me up at night, looking at your old pics started the quest. Watching youtube reviews of the 100L/IS on my new 4k tv sealed the deal! Worst case I will buy the 100mm 2.8 and buy a wicked tripod (auto lock). Tell you X-mas day!

The 60 is nice too but I can justify the 100 for wife portrait work.
