Awesome photos, your close-up images are unreal. Looks like a great year for variety as well.

Wow. Those are super nice shots Rye. I love the herp in landscape photos and the the AZ tiger salamanders.
That first Heloderma looks like it needs a sandwich. Some really nice lutosus shots too. Are most of those in your area? They look pretty robust and healthy.

Thanks. It didn't really feel like I saw all that much, but as I was putting this together, I realized I did see quite the variety of herps this year.Calfirecap wrote:Awesome photos, your close-up images are unreal. Looks like a great year for variety as well.
Thanks, Bryan. The lutosus were from all over the state, from Salt Lake Co. to Washington Co. and just about everywhere between.Bryan Hamilton wrote: Some really nice lutosus shots too. Are most of those in your area? They look pretty robust and healthy.

Re: 2015 Photos
looks like you have had a really good season. I am still envious of that Tantilla, I went down there immediately after and couldn't come up with one. Your photos have jumped right past the average herper guy with wife's borrowed pocket camera to pro quality shots with likely expensive equipment. I never was any good with a camera, but I sure enjoy seeing the animals. Will have to try and get out together next season for a few outings.
Re: 2015 Photos
Thanks, Jeremy. The Tantilla was cool, but I think the pyro was still my favorite find this year.Jeremy Westerman wrote: Will have to try and get out together next season for a few outings.
It's been a few years since the Utah guys have been out together. I've been hoping for a group outing, but it seems there has been a lack of interest or maybe just a lack of motivation to plan one. Hopefully that will change next year.

Great shots Rye! You've had a great year.
I probably herped less this year than any year in the past 14 years. Especially in southern Utah.
Hopefully we can plan an outing next year.

Re: 2015 Photos
Thanks for organizing such nice photos.
You remind me I still have yet to see my first chorus or leopard frog in Utah--but I usually stay farther from water.
Congratulations on the lyresnake.
And nice zonata.

Re: 2015 Photos
I saw some triangulum and pyromelana? Is the first triangulum a zonata?
Re: 2015 Photos
Just wanna jump on the dogpile - nice zonata!
Ha ha. Totally just kidding, not sure what Mark meant, probably just a brain-fart. Nice pics, thanks for sharing, congrats on a fun year. Let's get out in the spring, summer and fall. Hope to see you here in a couple weeks.
cheers

Yeah, no Z's in there. I'm sure he meant pyro.
Mark- the lyresnake was a very fresh DOR found by Chris. Still working on that live one.

Re: 2015 Photos
Everyone is so literal? Rye's Utah Milksnake's banding pattern and even head pattern (with the bit of red) happen to be far more similar to those of L. zonata pulchra or multifasciata than those of most Utah Milks I've seen. You can look at that photo quickly and it registers "zonata" at least as much as is does "triangulum"--no? I'm the only one who thinks this?
Sorry, will wait a long while until attempting my next joke. Never was much good at them.
Good luck with your live lyre next season, Rye.

Re: 2015 Photos
I thought it might be a joke but I wasn't sure.... Thought it more likely that I missed a z.
That first triangulum seems to have a high band count and looked "z" ish to me.
Either way, nice job on tricolor's this year. Really nice.

Re: 2015 Photos
Maybe it is a z. That was just vacationing. It definitely had some very nice banding indeed.
