Nothing for SC for me. All of mine are Florida. I use this 3 book guide series.

I've heard good things about this book. I've also heard the author is connoisseur of meats.

As another online resource, try snakesandfrogs.com

For literature, Amphibians and Reptiles of the Carolinas and Virginia, 2nd ed.

There is also the set of books: snakes/lizards/turtles/etc of the southeast.
