Denver/Boulder area and Alamosa - summer- herping hours

Post by ebit123 »

Hi,
We'll be in Denver/Boulder area and later Alamosa/Great sand dunes first week of July. Primarily interested in snakes (happy to see any type). Is it too hot in those places mid-day to see or find much? When do people familiar with the areas recommend going herping (for snakes)...
.in Denver/Boulder and also Alamosa?
Also, while on Denver/Boulder, are there any parks/trails that get so crowded it's not even worth it? (please tell me so I know where too avoid.
Thanks
