My boring contribution from the Midwest

Post by KUJordan »

So my one single day to do some herping didn't work out anywhere near as well as I had hoped. My totals for my 5 hours I had to herp ended up like this:

2 Ophisaurus attenuatus
1 Scitophis obsoletus
1 Lampropeltis calligaster
2 Lampropeltis triangulum syspila
3 Agkistrodon contortrix phaeogaster
1 Coluber constrictor
0 Crotalus horridus
0 Lampropeltis gentula holbrooki
0 anything else cool...
3 Latrodectus mactans

Here are some quick shots:

This guy in the tree was longer than me and I am just over 6':

Yeah, what's so boring about that? From my angle, it looks like a great outing!

You sure that's not a rat snake in the tree?

This sounds like a great 5 hours of herping.

My first ever snake "in-situ" was a big ol' black ratsnake sitting in the saddle of some branches in a tree when I was a child. Awesome.

Thanks for sharing!
