Hey everybody!
My name is Jeremy Cowan from Marin County and I am very happy to be on this forum. For my entire life I have been amazed by reptiles and amphibians, but just last year I started going out into the field and truly field herping. I have decided for my first post that I will show all of you the animals that I have photographed over the years, ending at the California Chapter meeting just a few days ago.
(I am going to warn you now that there are a lot of not so great iPhone photos in the mix)

Rosy boa (I think it was Fundad's find)

These next five snakes were found in about 10 minutes at the same spot!
Robert's sidewinder

Nicholas's sidewinder

My shovel nose (it went right under me while I was photographing the sidewinder!)

Jonathan's leaf nose and my shovel nose together

Next Jeff took us to a special leaf toed gecko spot
Robert's speck (sorry Matt)

Third shovel nose of the day (not sure who found it)

In the next hour Jonathan found a chuck, a leaf nosed, and a banded gecko, and my dad and I found two leaf toed geckoes
The next day during the lizard noosing contest Nicholas and I found a long nosed leopard lizard and Owen found a speck in a crack

On the next boulder over I noosed a granite spiny lizard that was dead
Untitled by cynthiasamson, on Flickr
We then went into Anza Boreggo to look for desert lizards and I found my lifer desert Iguana

My dad and Robert then found a desert horned lizard, which would be a lifer for me but I didn't get to see it!

While road cruising that night we found a leaf nosed snake

We also saw two sidewinders

And one banded gecko

And that was my most recent big find!
Thanks everyone

Well done Jeremy!
It's hard to top what you got at the National Event, but you've got a lot of herping ahead of you. Keep it up and stay tuned to upcoming events and such.

We are glad you finally figured out how to post pictures from Flickr. Now that you have done it once, next time will be much easier and faster.
As Lawrence said, you have already seen quite a number of interesting species, and your life list is sure to grow. Hopefully, we'll be able to get you a lifer or two next week when we are up in the Bay Area. Have you seen a Santa Cruz Gartersnake or Yellow-Eyed Ensatina Salamander yet? We should be able to get both on Saturday.
See you then,
Robert and Nicholas

Yes Jeremy - great to herp with you, and share that crazy snake stop in the desert.
The first shovelnose you saw was TJ's find.
I love that Canadian toad shot.

Great post, Jeremy! It was a pleasure to meet You and your Dad down in the desert. And, I'm glad that you found and saw a nice assortment of herps.
I'm looking forward to seeing you guys at some Bay Area get-togethers and the NAFHA Surveys!
Happy Herpin', Jeremy

As everyone has stated it was a pleasure to have you and your dad with us. One of the best moments of trip was seeing your smile when you first laid eyes on that rosy boa. Keep up the herping, you have so much more to experience. Any time you guys are down this way I would be honored to show you around. John Lauermann / Cal. Board member
