This year in SoCal, if you wanted water, you had to head to the beach....not that there was anything wrong with that, as the ocean was incredibly warm, and the fishing fantastic. But for green grass and flowing streams, AZ was the place to be.

Dang it, AZ is so far away....
Nice to see one of my favorite beetles in there with the other cool stuff.

Re: Wet and wonderful Arizona 2014
Man, warm-enough-to-herp weather seems like ages ago. This post helps pass the ages until the next season. Thanks!
That first Gila looks like a pet, it's so fat. And speaking of corn fed, that twin spot is so chunky, I wasn't sure what it was at first! That klaub looks kinda New Mexican...did you slip over the AZ/NM border for that one? I like your coiled up atrox in the shade on that dirt road!
Cheers,
York

Re: Wet and wonderful Arizona 2014
Thanks guys! The winter does seem dark and cold at the moment, but we're past the solstice, so things are looking up. York, all the montane rattlers were Santa Cruz county snakes. And while the first Gila did look reasonably well nourished, the other two looked like crap! They seem to be suffering disproportionately in the drought.
As for that mystery tricolor....my partner decided to perplex me by placing a CA mountain king model on that tree, so I figured I return the favor to y'all..!

Yeah, noticed the mountain king didn't have a white nose, so not a local king.
My brother lives near Tucson, I need to get back there and visit.
