Re: The Cali Chapter NAFHA Event Fri 4-10-15 thru Sun 4-12-1
Can we start to figure out a way to do live feeds or should we just upload videos to a common site?
Re: The Cali Chapter NAFHA Event Fri 4-10-15 thru Sun 4-12-1
Okay, there's an outside chance I can move heaven and earth and get my flight back to America bumped up a few days...so I can make the event!
However, I might not have a way to get down to the border.
Now, I'm not sure I can even do it on the flights side, but if I could...is there anyone who I could carpool with to get down there? I would arrive in LA the night of the 9th and could be picked up anywhere within 30-45 minutes of Torrance any time on the 10th.
PM me if that's a possibility.

If you need a place to stay, you (and yours) are welcome to stay at deep creek as long as you like...(well-appointed mobile home to yourselves)
4/10 is me and Josh's 'birthday herping gig' we do every year, and will almost certainly be heading down to the meet, along with probably other carpooling opportunities, from the Hi-D. DC's a little out of the wy, i know... but hey...arroyos will be active... jim

Thanks Jim! You are indeed coming from a bit more out of the way. I got another offer over PM, but I'll let you know if something falls through and I need to take you up on yours!

Looks like I will be having some trouble making it down to the event this year.
My band is playing a pretty big show on April 10 at 924 Gilman in Berkeley.
If I flew down after the show, late night, or very early the next morning, would I be able to meet up with the group?

Zach,
I just checked Southwest Airlines for you and they don't have any flights after 9:30 pm Friday night, probably too early for you.
But you could fly out of SF or Oakland at or around 7 am on Saturday morning and be in SD at around 8:30 am.
The campground is about 70 miles east of SD airport, so maybe a 90-minute drive by rental car. You should make it by about 10:30-11:00 am.
I have no idea what we'll do Saturday morning, but presumably groups are going to form and fan out in various directions (low desert, mountains, etc.). You'd probably have to be in touch by cell to meet up with one or the other group on the road.
Your drive would take you close to "those mountains", for example, so that may be a good place for you to meet up with a group looking for your favorite serpents. We may well part of that group. In fact, I think that'll be our number one priority that weekend, weather permitting.
I hope this gives you an idea of what to expect and will sway you to come down.

March will be wet. Just watch.
Re: The Cali Chapter NAFHA Event Fri 4-10-15 thru Sun 4-12-1
Yeah, we sure could use some more rain at this point. But Jonathan may prove right. There is still a 50-60% chance for a weak El Nino event in late winter/early spring.

Mike and I will not be able to make it, after all. The area is on our short list of places to visit, however, so maybe I'll see some of you in the near future.

Hi Everyone,
If you have not made reservations at the campground for a trailer or cabin now would be the time to do it. Please say that you are with the NAFHA group and you should receive as discount.
This is one month away and I hope we post a bit of our schedule soon.
I am getting pumped how bout everyone else?

As far as camping goes, do I need reservations if I'm just setting up a little two-man tent? Or can I sneak onto someone else's spot?
Re: The Cali Chapter NAFHA Event Fri 4-10-15 thru Sun 4-12-1
Jonathan - You won't be needing to make reservations. The tent camping area is huge, and is already reserved for the group.
Looking forward to seeing you two

Is there going to be a dinner or a meetup for drinks or anything at this thing? I'm not much of a group herping person so pretty much would like to meet up for more of a social thing to meet some new (and old) faces.........

After you check into the campground at the main office, please go to Site#81 to check into the NAFHA event.
For those of you that are camping expect the night time lows to be in the high 30's. Therefore bring warm sleeping bags and heavy jackets, a cold and wind cold front is expected. Hypothermia can set in if not prepared for the long cold night.
Anyone experiencing extreme cold can visit one of the board members or event leaders and let us know, even if it's in the middle of the night, and we will see to it that we get you warm.
