Here's another rare find in Wisconsin, a lined snake. These resemble a garter snake needing a shed, but have a distinctive belly pattern (which you can't see in the photos) and rather big bulgy eyes (which you can clearly see). They eat worms and are believed to be nocturnal.

Found a few of those in Kansas a few years back. Thought they were garters at first glance.

They look like Butler's garters and have similar habits...

I've been monitoring Lined snakes in SW Minnesota for many long years now. I just checked out the Wisconsin Herp Atlas and couldn't find Lined snakes in the list:

Have they been added recently or is just too early in the morning for the coffee to kick in yet?

On vacation right now, but would like to know too, if they were recently added to the herps of WS. Will be back next next.

Do we get to know which county? I just checked the Snakes of Illinois and see that Lined Snakes are quite a ways south of Wisconsin. Looking forward to hearing more about this.
Re: Lined snake
I have a recent field guide called Reptiles & Amphibians of Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan Field Guide by Stan Tekiela which includes them. They were only discovered a few years ago.
They are listed on the DNR's checklist, which is well maintained: http://dnr.wi.gov/files/PDF/pubs/er/ER0110.pdf
