How often do peoplel get tagged by these? How bad is their venom?

Most bites in Taiwan are by this species. Farmers grab them all the time when they're sleeping in bushes and grass (the snakes, not the farmers). Venom's nothing to sneer at. Few people die, but many lose little pieces of their bodies due to necrosis.
