1/2 day afield

Post by kyle loucks »

Though I am still recovering, I still managed part of the day in the DelMarVa Peninsula. I was to meet upl with spinifer and MattJ to do a little
flipping first thing in the am. Naturally I was a little early so I took the scenic route. I passed by a vacant lot right of the highway and did a quick u-turn.
Found some debris in the form of a broken piece of particle board. Under the first piece was this trio of Fowler's toads hunkered down on this 51 degree morning.

Under the next board was this pair of hatchlings...
Quick pic...

Awaiting it's first shed...

This one was bright and shiny in all it's newness...

Starting to get uppity...

Couple of other random pics

Matt found this wood frog
Image

And we all got vouchers of Fence lizards and 5 lined skinks. Not much elso on this dry day cept for a dor worm snake and this dor rough green.
Image

Nothing found at the Bates Motes either...

Image

It is really disappointing to drive 3 hours and find this...

Image

I placed these boards back in early spring...
It has yielded ground skinks and smooth earth snakes. Now, I claim no spots as my own, however,
this is an example of lack of repect and etiquitte.
Just put 'em back folks, best you can.

Kyle, them little Hogs are absolutely incredible! Hearty congrats.
Sorry some A-holes only had time to "flip" your boards. They must of been late for dinner or something. Whew.

That looks more like what an anti-herper would do. Someone how hates herpers and everything they do. Or maybe they're saying "this is my area, get out" when you have more of a right to be there than they do. That must be so discouraging. Sorry man.

WOW. Those are a few productive flips, Kyle.
Sorry to hear about your spots. Matt J was kind enough to show me some area several months ago in Maryland and I can
guarandamntee if he's been there within the last week or so he can tell I haven't been...even though I have. ;)

It's a shame people can be so generous with hard found spots only to have them abused by individuals who have no respect for the people who brought them there.

I agree Nate... if they were the only boards there. But this place is basically a junk yard with hundreds of cover objects. I put these few measley boards out to make it a little easier on myself and others who survey this area.

That might be the coolest pic of a snake in-the-blue I've ever seen... good damn job, all around... especially your comportance in the face of trashed spots. jim
Someone should do a 'blue thread'... :thumb:
