I know I don't post a whole lot anymore. I've photo'ed about everything in 8 hours drive with exception of spotted turtles, yellow muds, spadefoots and mud snakes. So I don't want to dump on the pile of things you've all seen hundreds of times over. At any rate I found one of the coolest Ratsnakes in my illustrious career a few weeks back. I decided today after looking at it that I needed to share it. It's a damned cool snake. This was a big snake, at least 4' and thick. If I didn't know I was in Central Illinois when I found it, I would think it's a Corn Snake.

Re: Cool looking Ratsnake
That's cool as hell!! Never saw one with even half that amount of red in it
Re: Cool looking Ratsnake
Definitely not a corn snake, Muskie.
Looks like a lot of the Texas Rats just west of Houston, but with a lot more red. Good looking rat snake.

I am not a Rat snake junkie but still, that is gorgeous! That is why some still collect WC.

Definitely a beautiful snake! Thanks for posting it.
Re: Cool looking Ratsnake
I was trying to pay for a camp site and had kids sitting in the car. So I pulled out my phone showed the snake to the boys and didn't even get the camera out. I really wish I would have now...Trey wrote:Erythristic black rat. Awesome!
