I got a new computer and I'm practicing with photos, so just a few recents from our Green Valley property... ;)

This big guy was seen in April cruising through our garden area above the big wash in front... ;)

Thanks, Jimbo... :P

This next subadult was our fourth different Gila of the year in our yard, seen a few days ago along the orchard trail on the other side of the Big Wash out front (habitat descriptions are for those who've been to our place.)

the little turd-shaped thing in the middle of the pic? Yeah...i see him...   If my home wasn't so central to such a great variety of herp habitats (Desert, Mts, Coastal..0 to 30 min) and right on the transition for all three ( intergrade heavy) I would have probably pulled up stakes years ago and moved to AZ. a morgage payment of under $400 a month makes it hard to leave, as well... 8-)
New camera seems to be working very nicely, as well. jim

Thanks, Jim. The camera is my old Nikon point and shoot. I have a new computer, from Windows to Mac (first time user.) I also have a new Canon, p & s, that I haven't set up yet on the new computer. Have to do that soon.

Your location is pretty ideal, although I like mine too: close to several mtn ranges, desert, 1.5 hrs from Plains grassland habitat. What we need to do is visit once in awhile and show each other around, haha. I really like our location also, because Green Valley is a great little community, and our one acre property is close to the open desert, so great for herps. Haven't seen a tortoise, yet, but a neighbor two blocks away has had one in his yard.

BTW, you got the turd right...lol.

Finally got photos entered in the HERP database for this specimen, so thought I'd show the pics here.

This adult Gila can be seen in the shade of a bush on our back walkway. He may have been attracted to the water I was putting on plants.

Saw this guy the day after getting back from my Midwest trip....
Image
He started on the walkway, but headed down into the wash after seeing me.

He disappeared into a little brush pile by the wash...
Image
Hopefully he's still around in the backyard somewhere...heheh!

Yes, you're right, and I'm hoping to get some rain before July 1st, if lucky enough... ;)

Whether from a herping or gardening perspective, I will attest Terry has the ultimate yard. A-list herps are lined up 10 deep every morning just for entrance to his abode. (*Or so I've heard.)

Terry, I should be down your way in the next week or two and hope we can cross paths. Will drop you a line once this supermoon goes by the wayside, if you're still in town.

I'll probably be home, so give me a heads-up and come on over. Bring a big cooler too... ;)
