Re: May Species Counts
I made it out to pointe Coupee pa. this morning with my son for some herping. Didn't get any white whales, but it was an interesting trip.
18 may 2014 pointe Coupee pa.
Speckled kingsnake -2 under AC
Black-masked racer -1 AC, 1 AOR
Ribbon snake -2 AC, 1 on top of AC.
Diamondback watersnake
5 Lined skinks
Ground skinks
Acris sp
Bronze frogs
Gulf coast toads
A few RE sliders basking
Flipped an opossum.
Got to see a large herd of Whitetail deer barrel through only yards from us as we stood really still.
American alligator-1 first I've cruised here and it refused to be encouraged off the road toward the water. It was intent on crossing a huge corn field. Maybe a 6' individual, but not expected on the road we were on.

Re: May Species Counts
Finally had a free hour last night, so I decided to cruise locally for a bit. Results were less than spectacular. Hopefully, I can manage to get out next week in between the storms that should be rolling through and do a little better.

Post pics of the buttermilk, Jeff! I'm interested to see what they look like over there. Congrats on the lifer.
Re: May Species Counts
Kyle,
I failed to get pics I hit the breaks, jumped out of the truck, did a full-extension dive and came up empty handed. When I got back on my feet it was gone. Even worse, I actually had my slr with me!

Of course, Armin and I have been burned by our fair share of Coluber this year as well. I managed to miss all but one of those coachwhips during our outing last weekend.

Re: May Species Counts
Took the kayak down to the coast this morning to chase redfish. Didn't do too well on that front, but saw probably 8-10 Diamondback Terrapins. Unfortunately, they never seemed to stay up long enough to get my camera out.

Took a quick cruise this evening. Found good numbers, just not much in the way of diversity. Can't really complain for this late in the spring though.
