It's March, and Hubbs is coming to CA with a new camera...

Post by Brian Hubbs »

I have exactly 1 CA entry in the database as of today, and I did not take the pic. I entered it for someone else who doesn't contribute. But, I'm on my way to your state this week. You all know what that means. Bwahahahaha...better get those data entries in there, because in 2 weeks I will be in the Number 1 spot again... 8-)

I think giving you people a three and a half month head start was pretty generous of me...

Let's see if I can do it...I might fail, but I'm gonna have fun trying... ;)

Great just great! Right when I'm getting ready to out of state. :P Well good luck to you, but you are playing with fire, and you just might get burned. ;)

Zach, Zach...such little faith...

I'm not sure if I'll take over the top spot or not, but my goal for this trip is 500 vouchers. :o (Better to shoot for the stars and hit the moon, then to shoot for the lamp post and hit the mud puddle)

Let's see if I can pull it off. I have a lot of pent up herping energy that needs to be released right now...

Me at the gas stop in Fenner, California on Sunday to the 55 year old cashier. "Hey, young lady, what's shaking?" Her response, "Ohhhhhhhh, you don't know what's shaking with this OLD lady - ha ha ha ha". Me noticing a stand up behind her on the counter with Hubbs' venomous books and his harmless snake books. "Hey, I know the guy that wrote those books - in fact he was the very first person to wish me happy birthday last week. That's how good friends we are!! Does that give me any kind of a discount on that $5 per gallon gas of yours?"

"No."

"Oh. Well give me $20 on #2 and these peanut M&Ms".

Start the car, gas gauge barely moves.

OK...so I went, I photographed, and got 444 entries from 20 species in 18 counties, including over 170 new pond turtle records and 17 Cal King records (total of 19 Cal Kings), but it wasn't enough to take the top spot in the database contest. Owen is still ahead of me. Guess I gotta do it again...

I don't know...I have 18 right now...and I can't stay away from CA. I guess it will depend on who can do the most traveling. I will tell you this, you aren't exploiting the sceloporus factor like you could...

You'll catch me easy. I need to dial it back. Too busy with the rest of 'things' to keep this pace. I'll be lucky to hit 900 records this year... even if we get a wet Nov/Dec.

A thought to leave by... my Alameda pond turtles from last week are all from non-Hubbs vouchered locales.

My question is whether Hubbs is going to get a county record in 2014...

CA county records are getting hard to come by, but I have a few tricks up my sleeve for later in the year. Stay tuned Jonathan... 8-) If you look at the overall entries scoreboard, you'll note that I have more county records than anyone...0ver 1,190. I do my share...just not always in CA...
