Central/Southern Mexico Question

Post by sonora »

Does anyone here have any experience (or know anyone who does) herping the states of Oaxaca and/or Puebla?

Tim used to come 'round here (probably is an honorary founder or something) but I haven't seen of him in some time. Through the grapevine I understand he's still quite Mex-active despite the ravages of age (family, job, bills, oh my). Looks like he hasn't added to this in some time but here's something to look at:

Thanks Jimi. Yes, that is, or was (or could have been) a great site. I've had that site book marked for several years, hoping for an update. Unfortunately, it never really got past the specimen/habitat photo stage.

This is also a good site: http://www.uta.edu/biology/mexicoherps/index.htm

But again, fairly generalized on the species level. I know I'm stabbing in the dark, but I'm hoping for more specific info as it relates primarily to the salamanders of the area and, to a slightly lesser extent, the rattlesnakes. Google Earth/Maps is somewhat helpful, of course, but I really would like to have a little better idea of where to go before making the trip down there.
