Hey folks, just a few pics from S. IL. and IN......

I hadn't seen a "walking stick" in a few years

Snake Road proved to be a good trip, this Garter among the finds

No Snake Road trip can exclude Cottonmouth

I think this is the largest Cottonmouth I've found at SR, note the quarter for size reference.

As mentioned in another post, this little Copperhead may have been the most photographed snake of the day.

The shots of your "big timber" are the same shots as the little timber.

He didn't say it was a "big timber". And they are two different snakes. Great stuff Barry! Makes me wish I still lived in Illinois.

How on earth did you get that map turtle shot? It is amazing! Did you have to sit in a blind for three days? The maps I have seen are always going into the water, not coming out!
Of course the timbers are lovely, but I really really love the Dekay. And the beautiful boxy.
Still jealous of the hognose.
Awesome post, BR.

ThamnElegans24, thanks! S. IL. is blessed with herp diversity and habitat.

Tamara, thanks! I got the map turtle shot the same way I got the otter pics last year.
Stand in weeds nearly as tall as you are and move as little as possible.

Sam, I'm not sure just what that was, I didn't get that close. It was good to see
a young one though.

The smaller timber clearly has a meal, and the larger one obviously does not. Also note the differences in buttons on the rattle. Your statement is incorrect.
