Last week, my family and I took a trip to upstate New York. I didn't have a chance to do too much herping, but we caught plenty of fish, saw beautiful scenery, and observed lots of other fauna.
This is what the area looked like for the majority of the trip.
We saw a total of 6 herp species last week: Green frogs, mink frogs, American toads, Fowler's toads, two-lined salamanders, and red-backed salamanders.
Here are the only decent pictures of amphibians I took:
Northern Two-lined Salamander ~ Eurycea bislineata
Northern Red-backed Salamander ~ Plethodon cinereus
This large, majestic loon was seen everyday, cruising across our local lake.
On our last night, we were eating at a small café when I looked out the window and saw a small figure darting over the flowers. Instantly I grabbed my camera and ran outside to capture this little beauty in mid-flight.
Ruby-throated Hummingbird
And to finish off, one of many good sized Smallmouth Bass. The biggest one I caught was around 19 inches and 4 lbs.
Enjoy!

Looks like a nice trip. Where in upstate NY were you? I'm guessing the Adirondacks based on the loon.
