Arkansas - First Half of 2013, Part 3

This is a continuation from Parts 1 and 2. If you'd also like to see a selection of non-herp/non-thumbnailed photos, please visit here (not FHF).

PART 3 (June)

As you might well notice, I've spent some efforts pursuing turtles this year and, indeed, have found all but two species for Arkansas.

Yes...they still sell these. :-(

So, I decided I needed another camera (something between my DSLR and iPhone). I went with the Pentax WG-3 GPS, which has underwater capabilities. These Eastern River Cooters were good test subjects.

I like the way you presented this with the one big picture, then the thumbnails if someone wants to see more. Great idea!

Where are the ground snakes! Seems that is about the only thing you didn't find!

Just kidding of course but I remember your post from last year when you found them about the same time we found ours here in Missouri. We went back to the same spot this year and found some more which I need to post.

Congrats on a great year so far. Enjoyed all your many photos. You are having a fantastic year!

I remember that, Gary! Great job on those! I actually have targeted other areas/species so far this year. I haven't even been in a locality to turn up the ground snakes... :(

Excellent series of posts! I echo the admiration for the style of post with one big picture and a bunch of smaller pictures. How did you do that?

I first had Quickr Flickr spit out the BBCode of my most recent Flickr photos as thumbnails (the image URLs are appended with "_t"). To get the larger photos, I simply removed that "_t" part. There are other options to append, for example, "_s" or "_z" to get different sizes. I reordered, sorted, and cleaned things up a bit in a text editor (occassionally checking it with post preview on the forum for output), till I was happy.
