I recently traveled to south Texas and did a bit of herping with a friend and guide, Kyle Elmore, who was kind enough to show me around and
help me find some species which are indigenous to the area. He is very knowledgable and an excellent herper. I appreciate his kindness and
hospitality. While in Texas, I was also able to photograph many species of birds, as well as the American Alligator. Here are some of the results
of the trip - including some non-herp species:

Cool photos, Ashley!
I'm especially fond of the pose you captured on our first rattlesnake:

Awesome post Ashley!
Having done a recent S. Tx. trip as well, your post definitely brings back some memories....Saw quite a few of the same species, but missed out on some of the ones you saw too....All the more reason to head back in the future!
Thanks for sharing!

Nice series of photos Ashley. Glad you knocked out all those atrox in Texas. Now when you come to AZ they should be a breeze.

Ashley, ! Loved the post! I find it very interesting that the coast of Texas/Gulf has much of the same species of wildlife as the Georgia/Atlantic coast (ie. gators, brown pelican, Green Treefrog, Green Anole, Southern Coppperhead, etc.) and just substitute a different sub-species for many of the rest (ie. Eastern/Western Coachwhip, Eastern/Western Diamondbacks, Eastern/Speckled Kingsnake, Southern Black/Yellowbellied Racers, etc.). I would feel right at home there but yet, finding lifers!
