Gilas and other firsts...

Post by ratsnakehaven »

Made a trip up to Tucson yesterday to bag a few mice at Reptile Specialists and stopped off in the foothills for a short hike. Saw two gilas, lots of other lizards, a garter, and some cool birds.

This adult gila was on the side of the trail I was hiking....

The second adult gila was near a stream and was seen from a distance poking into some rocks...

After bothering the animal with photos it headed back to its burrow in some other parts of the rock pile...

Next up was a subadult black-necked garter. It was just lying in the warm sand near the stream. Another first for the year...

Of course there was a ton of the common lizards. I'll save those for when there's not much else happenin'.

That's awesome Terry. I don't want to admit to how many hours I have been looking to see a Gila! Do you still have that Desert King we found a few ago? Best regards, Carlo. :thumb:
